Service Description

Having trained in many different styles of mask play, I'm fascinated by how they can be used as tools to get us out of our heads and into our bodies. We will play with neutral masks, half and full-face character masks, larval (naive) masks and even red noses (the smallest mask of all). This brand new, experimental workshop is for people with some performance experience; as a clown, actor, improviser, comedian, dancer etc. It helps if you have had some clown training. Full refund available up to 48hrs before the workshop begins. INSTRUCTOR BIO: Damien Warren-Smith (A.K.A. Garry Starr) is a performer whose solo work has played festivals all over the world, picking up numerous awards along the way. Having worked as an actor for over 15 years in Australia and throughout Europe and Asia, he re-trained as a clown, mime, mask performer and physical comedian with the likes of Mick Barnfather, Peta Lily, John Wright (Author: 'What is That so Funny?' & 'Playing The Mask'), Lucy Hopkins, Carlo Jacucci, Steve Jarand (Trance Masks), Paul Hunter (Told by an Idiot) and Philippe Gaulier. He was a founding member of clown troupe A Plague of Idiots who toured fringe festivals internationally to critical acclaim and audience bemusement. His solo shows have played to packed houses in Australia, UK, Denmark, Germany and USA and he has taught workshops all over the world.
